i've gone through about 4 ipod videos (80g) and all of them have froze...

when i plugged my ipod into my computer today, it said that my ipod had been corrupted and i needed to update my itunes to the newer version. it also said it needed to restore my ipod. (meaning erasing all music, videos, pics....)

right now on my computer screen shows my itunes music and then a little box in front of itunes saying that it is restoring my ipod, with 3 green dashes goning across it. (as if something was being downloaded)

it has looked like this for about a day.

im afraid to pull the wire out of the computer because the computer might not respond to the ipod if i plug it in again.

what should i do?

  1. What is your OS and what version of iTunes are you using.

  2. force restore the ipod

put the ipod into disk mode(make sure the ipod is unplugged)

    1.toggle the hold switch

    2. hold the select and menu button until the ipod turns off

3.immediately switch to the select and play button

4.your ipod should have a checkmark. if it doesn't, keep trying till you get it.

5.plug the ipod back into the computer it will be recognized as an ipod in recovery mode.

    6. i would try restoring in a different user or a different computer

    7. after trying all of these you are looking at a hardware error
