Whenever I turn on my computer, I see a huge red screen that prompts me to download spyware protection. Three icons launch themselves automatically onto my desktop, they are Error Cleaner, Privacy Protector, and Spyware&Malware Protection. When I access my start menu, I can' go to "All Programs". When I try to access most of my programs, a small window pops up and tells me that my administrator has blocked access to it, even though I AM the administrator. I get alot of pop ups and System Alerts. I know that they are all the workings of the virus, and I will greatly appreciate any help from anyone willing...

  2. Sounds like fake security software. I recommend AVG Free Edition 8.0, once downloaded scan your whole computer and remove any spy-ware etc. that is infecting your computer.

  3. Viruses are software programs, and they can do the same things as any other programs running on a computer.  The actual effect of any particular virus depends on how it was programmed by the person who wrote the virus.Try  http://computer-probs.blogspot.com/  to get  solution for all problems.

  4. Sounds like your have a trojan or rogue security software trying to trick you into buying its fake software.

Malwarebytes is on the best at removing rogue software and trojans - http://www.malwarebytes.org/mbam.php

The other two programs to try are

    SuperAntispyware: http://www.download.com/SUPERAntiSpyware...

    And SmitFraudfix: http://siri.geekstogo.com/SmitfraudFix.p...

  5. I clean off computer infections every day. Here is my standard procedure:

NOTE: on badly infected computers, you may have to install and run the scans from safe mode. Some programs will be actively disabled or damaged by the infections. When this happens, just pick another cleaning program until you find one which isn't knocked out. Then reboot and try some of the others. Lather, rinse and repeat until you have a clean system.

How to start in safe mode:

Download, install and run the following:

    (drive cleaner)

    http://majorgeeks.com/CCleaner_Slim_No_T...

ccleaner slim (removes junk and temp files so that the scans have fewer files to look through)

(anti-virus) Pick one, some infections disable cleaning programs, so try another until you can start removing the infections.

    Dr Web Cure it

    AVG

    AntiVIr

    Avast

If your wallpaper has been changed (and you can't change it back).

(anti-spyware) (This first group will detect and remove the worst infections. The 2nd group will clean up the stragglers).

    Superantispyware

    Malwarebytes Rouge Remover

    Malwarebytes anti-malware

    Threatfire

    spyware doctor starter edition

    ad-aware 2008

    spybot search and destroy

    Counterspy

    AVG anti-spyware

    Download and run combofix

Once you get the infections cleaned off, you have to repair the damage.

    Download, install and run

    http://www.majorgeeks.com/download4899.h...

    Dial-a-fix

Go through everything. This will fix a bunch of things that infections love to break. If you still have problems, (parts of windows is broken) you may need to do an Windows repair install or get some other tools to correct the changed settings. Tweak UI can be helpful (or dangerous in the wrong hands).
