My computer has turned itself off and wont come back on at all? what has caused this?

my computer just turned itself off and wont come back on and i blew the back to get the dust away and i think smoke came out of the vent. i have changed the plug 3 times so this isn't it i think its a hardware problem in the computer which ive had since October 2006. The computer is more or less permanently on can anyone help me with this? I'm taking it to PC world tomorrow as i have the extended warranty but if i can fix it myself then i will so can anyone help me?

REPLACE YOUR BATTERY AND CORD!!! YOUR COMPUTER WAS PROBALY LIVING OFF YOUR BATTERY AND NOW THEY BOTH ARE GONE!!!!

More than likely, your Power Supply has died. Nothing you can do

but replace it. And hope it didn't take any of the other components with it

when it did.

EDIT - Death by Power Supply should be covered.

happened to us twice. once it needed a new power supply.

second time, it was too dusty and it overheated so we needed to get new fans for it.

If you see smoke or shiny bright light coming from the power supply.. It's definitely dead... so the only fix is to replace the power supply.
