  1. Your laptop may have trouble getting a DHCP lease from the router. Try setting your IP and DNS IP addresses manually to see if the problem persists.

  2. Is the desktop connected via cable or wirelessly?

First, check that there isn't a tick against 'work offline' in Internet Explorer's 'tools' menu.

Second, check that the cable is plugged in to the router, or the wireless adapter is connected & working.

Third, disable any antivirus, zone alarm software or similar.

Fourth, check that the computer is automatically allocated an IP address:Go control panel>network connections. Right - click your connection, wired or wireless, and click 'properties'.

Highlight 'internet protocol (TCP/IP) & click 'properties', and make sure both settings on the following page are set to 'obtain automatically'. Click 'OK' & then 'OK'. Restart if required.

  3. How did you ask this question?

  4. Not knowing your set up the only thing I can think of did she accidently disable her internet connection i.e. the two little tv screens have disappeared out of the task bar?

  5. my internet explorer did not work for aages

so 2 days ago i got rid of internet explorer....but before that i was lucky that SOME sites worked

and through that i downloaded mozilla firefox

    now it works =]

  6. this may be as simple as re-booting your router. Disconnect it from the power supply...wait for 30 seconds to one minute and plug it back in. Or just turn power off and wait the 30 seconds. on re-boot it renews the address dhcp and the other things it needs to do to connect.

make sure thast the desktop computer is turned on when you do this and up to you whether or not to have the laptop on.

  7. Do a scan..you might have a virus.

Change from Internet Explorer to Mozilla.

    That may help!

  8. have you gone into your internet explore and then gone to TOOLS and checked the connection is ok
