Okay, so last night, i was deleting all these junk things in my add/remove file. I guess I accidently deleted something important because when i opened it again today, it said that the computer could not be logged on because i have /WINDOWS/system32 gone. It also said that i could use the original setup CD-ROM to attempt to repair this. I keep everything in a box and there was none! I am still a student so i cannot give 80 dollars an hour to have it fixed in a store. Help! Can someone send me a that setup CD? I swear that I'll pay you like 20 dollars because I can at the very most give out that much.

or, can you PLEASE tell me how to fix it? I'm asking this on another computer that belongs to my school.

  1. you've got to get your hands on a recovery CD somehow. Maybe a friend or parent's computer came with a disk? If you have everything that came with your computer contact the manufacturer.

  2. Yeah, if you are missing stuff in the system32 folder, then you are pretty much screwed. I doubt you'll find anyone to give you a CD. We don't even know which version of Windows you are running.

However, usually the manufacturer of your computer (like HP and Dell) will send you "Restore" cds for free or for a small fee. You should call them up and ask for a restore cd since you need to repair your windows operating system. This CD (or DVD) should repair your computer, or bring it back to how it was when you first bought it (which means, your files will be gone).

Remember to back up your files next time.

You can also try booting into "SAFE MODE". Follow my link below for instructions.

  3. He's right, if you give the name and model of the computer it will help us help you.  I will venture a guess that you are running an HP.  Many of them do not come with recovery disks.  This is because a certain key combination during startup, depending on the computer, will trigger a reinstall from a hidden partition on your hard drive.  If you provide the model of your computer, we can tell you what that key combination, if any, is.

  4. When you start youre pc, and it comes to the screen that says the brand and stuff, there should be an option at the bottom that says pc recovery. Hit F-whatever to select it, and follow it through. Most newish pc's have all of the windows stuff stored on a hard drive partition that this works off of.

This might not work but its worth giving a try. Every time ive ever had one of my pc's crash this has worked for me.

    Hope this helps.

  5. Okay there should be a another disk that came with your computer when you bought it new other than the repair disk setup CD-ROM. It should be called system recovery disk or something similar. And its not the samething as the disk you put in.You reboot ur computer, put the disk as soon as u reboot. Then you will have an option to erase all data from ur computer and restore all system files and ur computer working like new again and will run fast again! If ur data u have on ur computer is not too important, thats the best option. Otherwise there is one more option that will just restore system files and all ur data is still saved and u can choose that option. Remeber this disk is different from the one you already put in. This disk is basically the emergency disk since ur first disk didn't work. This should most certainly work. Anyways give it a try.

  6. You need to give the manufacturer and model of your computer and operating system on it. It will be easier to help you with this info.

  7. on Any OS from Windows, use your OS Disc and reinstall the OS and it will recopy C:\Windows\System32 and all of that needs copying.
