  1. Check your connections.  Make sure your monitor is properly connected to the PC (turn the screws for a semi tight fit).  .  Make sure the cord is plugged in tightly to the monitor, and also the monitor power cord is plugged in tightly in the back. Make sure they are both plugged tightly into the outlet.  If you have a power supply or surge protector, check the connections and make sure they are good.  You might bypass the surge protector or power supply and go directly into the wall.  If your already directly into the Wall, than try plugging it in to a different outlet.  ALSO, when you go to start your PC, hold the button down for a long time and make sure it's actually restarting.  if you have a flip switch on the back of the PC, make sure you flip the switch the other way.  Sometimes it can be shut off that way.   Also, look at your PC and make sure you have a green light.  if your light is red, that could mean the power supply went dead (rare but it does happen).  The monitor could also have gone dead, in that case when you start the PC you will hear the normal beeps and hard drive noise, but no picture (monitor related than).  Honestly, I think it's a connection issue because the monitor or power supply is more rarely the problem.  If it's a hard drive problem, your computer would start but you would get an error message saying the computer couldnt find the drive.

  2. 1.  Your hard drive may be dead

    2.  Your system may be fried.  Are you getting anything when you start it up?  The BIOS?  If not, then your motherboard may be fried.

It is tough to tell without breaking down the system in parts and troubleshooting each at a time.  If your familiar with the inside of a computer, unplug all power, and switch the BIOS jumpers, wait a few minutes, then replace them.  If nothing is still working, you need a new computer.  I had a friend who had this problem and his motherboard was fried along with his hard drive.  Sorry to hear about that...  I wish you luck

  3. Your son probably did something by accident that broke the computer.

Maybe try sending the computer to a repair place, and if you don't fix it or get a new one by the time school starts, try going to the library to get your work done or use a friend's computer.

  4. it may be the windows go to a computer shop to fix it

  5. So, we are going to need a little more information.

First off, what do you mean by a blue/black blank screen? Is it flashing blue and black? or does it have lines?

Have you tried restarting the computer, not just turning the monitor on and off? (no offense, I just have to cover all bases) Just hold the power button down for more than 5 seconds if you can't just turn it off.

Feel free to go to my profile and send me an email with further details and questions.

  6. is the monitor power light green or yellow? yellow= signal from PC

  7. Laptop? Desktop?

  8. is it a laptop?  sometimes there's a reset button on the side or back of the thing that will reset the bios.  you can also take out the battery of a laptop with the same results

if it's a desktop, I recommend taking it your local computer fixit place.  sounds like an easy fix, but it might not be.  better let the professionals do it.

whatever you do, do NOT take it to Best Buy

  9. WELL ITS WORKING NOW ISNT IT?!??!?!?!?!??!?!?

  10. Call your local computer place and talk to a tech.

Really though, has it come to the point where people forgot how to live without a computer?  I only use one at work at breaks or lunch for personal use.  Just wondering what is going to happen when they all crash or something. The world will be at a stand still. Scary and sad.

  11. You may need to format your C drive and re-install windows and all your drivers.

If you have a dell computer you can call tech support and they will tell you how to do this.   Otherwise just look up the procedure for your particular computer and print it out.

You may have a virus somewhere in there.  That's what it sounds like to me.

  12. I fyou are getting the blue and or black screen windows is trying to load. IF you have your windows CD you can boot from it and do a repair reinstall of windows. Please note it's not the very first option to repair windows but the second one after asking to hit 58 for the EULA.

This will not delete any files but replace missing windows system files.

This is assuming you are using windows.

  13. i would try reloading windows if you want to do that (loose all your files)

or it could be a hardware problem

go to microsoft.com hard to tell from here

  14. have someone you know help  the computer ask your dad if he know someone come over there help the computer good luck?

  15. turn off yo8ur computer

    open the case..

    ground yourself on the case

reseat all the moduals.. especially the memory and video cards

while your at it vacume out the dust from around the cpu fan/heatsink and hte power supply

    reseat the power supply wires..

    close up the case..

reseat the video to monitor connector on back of the computer

turn on the computer.. see if that helped

if not do you have someone around wit a similair computer? to swap out the video card or powersupply?

my guess if none of this worked is anything from the cpu.. the motherboard or the video.. since you never even see the boot process  less chance of being video tho.. and less chance of being the powersupply which usually checks itself and shuts down if operating incorrectly

do NOT reinstall anything.. do NOT reformat anything.. if you dont see a boot process then it's not even at the hard drive yet.. half the people here will just guarentee you DO break yo8ur computer.

does your computer beep when you first turn it on? do lights flicker? .. is it a dead monitor? or no video to the monitor?

is your windows a valid registered copy of windows? has it been installed and working for greater than 30 days? .. did you change something like a network card that would invalidate windows?  sucks to think your os would deliberatly disable your computer but that's microsoft..

  16. i had taht problem a few week back one it could be your hard drive (if it makes a wierd clicking sound when turned on it your HDD) two it could be your moniter (might need a new one), 3 you might need a new pc (maybe the motherboard is nackard)

  17. Hello, the first thing to try is to make sure the power connections are working.  Unplug and replug in the power cords to both the Monitor and PC.  Also unplug the monitor connection to the PC and plug it back in again.  Question:  Do you see any flashing green lights on the front panel of your computer when you start it?  Does it sound like its starting up?  If power connections and lights are working then most likely that the monitor burned out.  This is very common with monitors.  If you have another monitor in the house please try that.  Its one way to help figure out what is wrong.

    Good Luck,

    Tom Shay

  18. if you have the system restore disk try reinstalling your operating stystem

  19. Best Buy sells brand spanking new ones.

  20. It could be that only the computer's monitor is broken (Just the screen). If that turns out to be the case just by a new screen.
