My computer is full of viruses. Help please!!!?

I'm in a load of trouble. My computer has two major viruses. One is a malware called "Win32.Agent.cmn" and "Antivirus XP". I'm using SpyBot Search & Destroy, but it can't get rid of them. It got so bad that every website I go to is blocked and tries to get me to buy Antivirus XP, which is actually a trojan. SpyBot detects almost 30,000 entries of Win32.Agent.cmn. I'm actually using Yahoo! Answers on my phone. I tried deleting these files from the source, but it keeps coming back. So I really can't use my own PC. If somebody could tell me how to fix this, please, I'll fan you, whatever. My plan is to save the important files onto a flash drive, and restore the computer, meaning I will put the computer to factory settings, deleting everything but what the computer started out with. Then I will use the flash drive to put the files that I saved into it into my pc. If it's important, I have a Windows XP, Compaq Presario SR1610NX Service Pack 2.

  1. boot in safe mode with networking

    RUN:

How to remove Antivirus XP 2008 (Uninstall Instructions)

  2. the same thing happen to me you might have to get your computer's memory chip fixed

  3. for viruses avg is the way too go. its free and will take them all out for you. If that dosent work or need help id check out http://www.nicklockard.com/

  4. Since you only have your phone and the flash drive (hope it's big enough - 100mb should be enough) head for a friend's or perhaps the local library where you can download what you need (and finish reading this there.  :-)  ).

First, an anti-virus program if you don't already have one on the computer.  (AVG, Avast and I think Avira as well are all free programs you can use.)  Next, ALL the updates for your anti-virus and also Spybot - get these at their websites.  Also, learn how to update the programs from a folder or disk because that is how you will need to do it.

Grab Ad-ware (three a's and one hyphen, NOT Adware) as well if you want a second spy program.  Also, the updates for it.  If you want to use a firewall better than the Windows one (which is better than no firewall) get one of those as well. Kerio Personal or Zone Alarm Free are good choices.

Start your computer and start tapping F8 - this will either get you a keyboard error or a list with Safe Mode in it.  If you get a keyboard error, try again but start tapping as the Windows screen loads.  Choose Safe Mode - this *should* let you start your computer.  Choose an Administrator account.

If you didn't have an anti-virus program, see if you can install it now.  Then update it.  Then run it.  A lot of viruses can be dealt with as long as you are in Safe Mode.  Safe Mode with Networking will let you get on the internet if you need that to fix the computer.  Don't use with Networking if you don't need it because not all of your security software might be working properly.

If that's a success, update and run Spybot and then Ad-aware after that.  If it wasn't a success, try those anyway!  Hopefully you will now be able to restart normally.  If not, if you at least can get into Safe Mode with Networking, you're in a position to visit sites such as Trend Housecall and Panda and have them scan your computer.  (This won't always work in Safe Mode but is worth trying.)

Something else I would be trying is to find a file on your computer called "hosts" with nothing else at the end of it (and no inverted commas).  Rename it to hosts.old and try restarting the computer in Safe Mode - the hosts file may have been overwritten by the virus which would be why all websites end up blocked.  This file should be in C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc

You can open it (use NotePad) and see what is written in there.  Make sure that every line should have a has sign (#) at the beginning except this one:

    127.0.0.1       localhost

If that line isn't there or has a hash at the beginning, change it to read exactly what is here and try getting on the internet again.

Typical hosts file (between the lines):

    ===========================

    # Copyright (c) 1993-1999 Microsoft Corp.

    #

    # This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.

    #

    # This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each

    # entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should

    # be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.

    # The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one

    # space.

    #

    # Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual

    # lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.

    #

    # For example:

    #

    #      102.54.94.97     rhino.acme.com          # source server

    #       38.25.63.10     x.acme.com              # x client host

    127.0.0.1       localhost

    ========================

See how you go with that lot.  You might not need to back up and reinstall your computer but I suggest getting it backed up as soon as possible anyway because some viruses attack or delete files.  :-)

  5. You can just get rid of the viruses. If you don't have any anti-virus protection you can download Avast! for free. Just search it on Google. Its one of the best anti-virus programs out there and like I said, free!

    Goodluck.

  6. Remove your hard disk and attach to the other computer who had installed anti virus or download kaspersky anti virus and install and also install windows defender with framework3.0

    Defender link:

    Framework link:-

  7. Use SuperAntiSpyware and CounterSpy.  They are the best free programs in conjunction with spybot to remove both of your virus plights.  I've seen those two virus issues many times and these programs work.  Use them first then use Spybot to clean up the remains.

You could also use Spybot Nuker XT.

  8. try reboting your computer it will get rid of most of the viruses

or just delete everything thats on your computer deleting all the files containing the viruses
