As for the system security of your computer get Avast Home Edition I had previously used AVG on my other computer it allowed trojan horses, and much spyware and adware infections.

  8. yes there are a few things you can do. first is it Windows Vista or XP? we need to know that because the steps to take can be different. also McAfee is known to use a lot of resources and will slow the computer down even while not scanning. I would recommend AVG free. its free and very good. also use Spybot search and destroy. that will replace any McAfee spyware components and once again is free and very powerful. after you do that and uninstall McAfee go through your documents and your installed programs and get rid of anything you don't use or need. then go to my computer and right click on the C: drive and select properties. then click the "tools" tab at the top and click "defragment now".

this will open the disk defragmenter. click the "defragment" button and let it run through. it may take a while depending on the size and seed of your drive. doing this will help speed things up and should be done every two months or so if you create and delete a lot of files or just when you notice it slowing down. once we know if it is Vista or XP we can offer more help.
