My computer is not reading movie CDs.What should be the problem?

I have dvd drive installed in my system.Previously it was well and used to run all types cds and dvds.Now a problem araised that it was not reading movie cds.Even new ones.In case dvds also it is reading after a number of refreshs.Can any one tell me what should be the problem.Is it with the lens or any thing else?

Most DVD Drives that would not play a disc even with a known good disc inside signifies that the laser eye/lens is not reading the disc. This could probably be attributed to defective, weak, dirty/dusty burned-out laser eye/lens.

A few things you can try:

1. Use a CD cleaner;

2. use a can of compressed air and blow through the inside of the loaded disc area;

3. gently tap on the top cover where you estimate the reading/laser eye/lens would be;

I say its really a lens-problem.

It might be dirty. Do you smoke in the room where your pc is?

Thats often one of the problems that causes readerrors in DVD-drives.

If cleaning the lens does not work, buy yourself a new player

that means it reads any other data, why dont you install codecs like k lite, ace codecs

if its a lens problem den probably it not read any type of disc... check ur window media player s/w,der may b problem dats y it cnt read movie disc

is it runs data cd if it not then 100 % lens problem is there  use lens cleaner cd or replace lens
