My computer is on a network, is it possible for someone to see what I am doing or surfing on the net?

we have a main server (where our dsl is connected), is it possible for somebody who has access to this server to see what I am doing with my computer like opening my emails?

If you choose it to be that way yes.

Ask about security the next time you get to the person who owns/runs the server

Yes, quite easily too.  You can monitor any internet transmissions on a network, and tie them to the computer's MAC address.
