  1. If you have lots of tabs open then that could be the problem. Ot try going to control panel and then go to add/remove programs because there may be programs that you do not need which could make your computer go faster.

  2. you could:

    DEFRAG

Defragging is when the computer puts all of the similar files together. When you install a game or another application, some files randomly go everywhere, so it takes a longer time for the computer to locate all of the files to run the program. The defrag takes all of the scattered files and put them where they belong, so the computer only has to look in one place and ta-dah, they're all there, decreasing load time.

Okay. WinVista is completely different when you want to defrag your computer.

WinXP: Right click My Computer > Manage > Disk Defragmenter > Defragment.

-Before you defrag, you should click on Analyze so you know if the disk is fragged. If the disk is only fragmented a little, a defrag won't change anything.

WinVista: EASY! Using Windows Search just type Defrag, then press enter. Click on Defragment Now, then Done.

-The only sad part with WinVista is that you cannot check to see if your disk is fragmented. So you need to click on Defragment Now whenever you install a program.

The more programs you install and not defragging after installation the longer the next defrag will be.

    CHECK FOR ERRORS

To check your history of errors, or if you just had a computer crash and are wondering why... Then you want to check the computer's data logs.

Right click My Computer > Event Viewer > Application.

This will tell you all of the errors and all of the warnings you had, application-wise.

Do the same but instead of Application click on System.

This tells you Everything that happened in the computer. Errors, information, warnings, etc.

So next time you have an error, check the logs. Chances are you have a faulty or out-dated driver that you need to update.

    SERVICES

right click my computer, manage, services and applications, services. stop the services you don't use, because they are being loaded up for no reason when you boot your computer. warning: if you stop all of them your computer will s***w up... make sure the service isn't crucial to your computer's performance

    COOKIES

removing cookies will help. open your browser and go in Tools, delete browsing history, and delete all of those sections, maybe you have too many of those.

    SCANS

you could run anti viruses, spywares, adware scans. good programs for those would be McAfee, Norton, Windows Defender, Kapersky and Avast!.

    DRIVERS

download new drivers... maybe your drivers are out of date and very glitchy, you never know.

if you do all of those and your computer is still very slow, then reformat your computer using a boot disk... maybe you have to many programs that are in conflict with each other causing a string of errors.

  3. check your hard drive space. Try deleteing some programs or files that you do not use. Run Disk Cleanup, or Disk defragmenter or something like that.
