Okay my computer has a pentium 4 processor, a 100g hard drive, and the past year it has been running sluggishly, These past few weks I've removed abut 40g of useless programs, the speed improved..... but I'd just like to know how to improve the speed of my computer.

Btw i'm planning to buy a new motherboard, and a dual core processor.... oh, and hopefully 500gig hard drive along with it.

  1. Have you defragmented it yet? that really helps.

  2. Defragment the hard drive. Clean up unnnecessary Windows Sludge with CCleaner. Keep Anti-virus and anti-spyware programs up to date and run them frequently. And don't try to run Vista on any single-core processor, or with less than 2 GB of system RAM.

  3. click start/run

    type msconfig

go to startup and disable all.
