Okay, so Thursday night my computer starting freaking out on me. All that the screen shows is a blue background w/ a box that says "Warning! Spyware detected on your computer! Install an antivirus or spyware remover to clean your computer." But there is also a program that keeps coming up called something like "antivirus 2008" that i believe is the virus.

I tried to run my McAfee program to remove the virus yesterday and Jons brother ran a malicious software scan but it didnt seem to fix anything! I don't know what the h**l happened or how this happened, but i NEED help!

When you restart the computer it will bring up the start menu and all of the program icons, but only for about 20-30 seconds then they all disappear and go back to the blue background. Yesterday i was able to click on my McAfee to run the virus scan, but it won't launch today..Also, i thought if maybe I could get into my add/remove programs that might help, but it won't let me bring that up either. Like I said, the start screen is only there for a brief minute and then it's gone.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to what i can try to do to help the computer? this is crazy. the computer was working just fine before i left for school on thursday and now it is crashed! if it weren't for the internet button on my keyboard i dont think i could log onto the net either....

Someone, anyone, please help! Give me ideas or suggestions....SOMETHING PLEASE!

Thanks

  1. I know a company that help with almost any computer problem. They are btexpress computer repair. They are great. I went to them and they know what they are doing. I love what they done to my computer. It was not fast and had viruses on it but, now it is clean and fast as lighten. If you would like to visit them the link is in my profile. btexpress computer repair is great

  2. Yes that would be right, antivirus 2008 is the problem, only it's not a virus, it's spyware. My sister had it on her computer. If you download and install spybot that will remove the threat. Here's a link for the free program

To avoid this from happening again, keep these in mind

    1. Don't open SPAM mail or mail from unknown senders

    2. Only go to trusted web sites

    3. Becareful of anything you download

    4. Avoid using programs like limewire and torrents

  3. you must be running vista, a co-worker had this same problem.  I fixed it for him.  Google AVG anti-virus and download.  Its free anitvirus software, and it works, GOOD!  Install and update the program, restart your pc.  Once restarted wait 2 minutes or so and run avg, do a deep scan.  When I did this for my co-workers home pc, it found anitvirus 2008 as a Trojan and removed it....no problems since.  Also suggest, ad-aware and sptybot, and threatfire, they are free anti-spyware programs...Good luck!!

  4. If you can download Superantispyware, check for updates, then run it as well as your computer in Safe Mode, you may be able to clear the infection.

    SuperAntispyware

    http://superantispyware.com/

You can download Superantispyware to a disk and install it on the problem computer. To get into Safe Mode, reboot and then either hold down or tap the F8 key repeatedly while the computer is starting up. A screen will appear after a few seconds, select Safe Mode.

If you cannot get it removed after the above, you may want to join a tech group that specializes in providing manual instructions on malware eradication.

  5. Go into safe mode. The run your anti virus software. If something keeps popping up saying your infected with a virus, that is the virus causes that. On my old computer I used to get that all the time, because I was a idiot and downloaded music, games etc. Time went on and that eventually destroyed my computer. This problem could also be a non virus problem. I think it might be a hardware problem.

  6. a while ago my computer desktop turned blue and it said i was infected with spyware and i came on here to ask people and they gave me all free stuff to try and trust me iv tried all the free stuff, and none of it got rid of it completely or at all but i did try this http://spywareremover.com/ and it worked... the 1st scan they found like over 500 spyware and i just kept running it and running it until they didnt fine anything and the back ground turned back and i havent any problems since.......its about $20 and if it doesnt work then you can get your money back, but you can 1st click the free scan to see if they find anything

    hope i helped Jessica xoxoxo

  7. hi there i have encountered this program a few times.

it uses a rootkit to hide from windows and will prevent you from deleting the malware files in the windows\system32 folder

it also eventaully blocks firefox and other browsers and redirects IE when you try to go to AV sites

using another machine download a free rootkit revealer such as

    http://www.sophos.com/products/free-tool...

install it and let it run- then delete the hidden files that it finds

now your AV program should be able to update and scan the machine and then delete the previously protected malware files.

i can verify that the free version of avast will find the malware once the rootkit is deleted
