My computer is scaring me. Help?

I closed out of the internet, but instead of closing out, a million different internet windows kept popping up over and over and there were like 20 of them and whenever I would close one, more would pop up. Eventually everything froze and they all went away, but idk. It happened to me before on my old computer which had like a million viruses and we had to get rid of it, and I'm scared that's whats happening to this one. It's really new too, so I don't know. Anyone know what's happening? :]

It's very easy to make a website that has code which says "when the person goes away from this website, open a jillion windows".

On the other hand, it's also easy to write a virus to open a jillion windows.

My point is, your new computer may have a virus, it may not.

So my advice would be to be careful where you go on the internet, and make sure you have antivirus software installed.  You can get AVG Antivirus for free, but I've never used it so can't advise you for or against it.

If your computer does get a virus, you don't need to get rid of the computer.  Absolute worst-case scenario, you just re-install Windows.

Yea....you might have a virus or you clicked the internet tab too many times. Hopefully you did that. For future references get a anti virus software from best buy, circuit city or just order it off the internet so it will remove those viruses for you b4 they damage your computer.

What you have is a quite popular virus (and annoying too).

I suggest you use a good anti-virus and scan the computer (also put the anti-virus in medium-high security, it will protect against virus-riddled websites).

I use Avast! anti-virus, it's effective, keeps my computer clean and is free to download.
