  1. Hmm i assume that Windows is in C: Drive. Try moving all the data that is yours .i.e all data (or the maximum possible) to d:\ from My Documents etc. If you have already fixed registry, I am assuming that you have a good AV, that you update regularly. Also you have scanned the system for Malware & spyware. I''s day Defrag the system. Also the system may "seem " slow after you have been working on newer better computers too.. So if after everything your computer still seems slow, I'd say its a matter of perception.

Auslogics (www.auslogics.com) also offers some tools that you can look at. I use them, & all   I  had to do to get a free registration was put it on my blog..

  2. Probably your computer is infected with viruses and adwares or malwares. Run virus scan with AVG. It will speed up the computer

  3. if you can reinstall all programs including windows itself. That will take care of data corruption that is hard to fix and slows your computer. plus it purges your system of all viruses that you may or may not have

  4. For running slow there are many causes:

Open your Start menu  ->  Click Run ->  In the command screen type "msconfig.exe" ->  In the "system configuration utility", click either "service" or "startup" tab ->  Uncheck all programs that your are no longer using.

  6. If you are defraged then the only way is to reduce the memory usage get an external hard disk for more storage.

  7. I always set up my disk swap space to automatic on the D drive since there is normally more room.  Is there any thing you can dump from the C drive to CD or DVD such as pictures or documents?  Have you gone into Accessories/System Tools and run disk cleanup with all the boxes checked and then done a defrag.  You state you did a registry clean up but did not say what was used.  I have always used and recommended Ccleaner from ccleaner.com.  That is about all you can do without adding an external drive and transferring all unneeded files from the C to it.  One other thing to try is going into the start menu and remove the junk that loads at startup.  You don't need i-tunes or real player or alot of others to be sitting in memory and occupying space.

  8. go to start/run type in msconfig then go to startup untick everything except for antivirus and firewall reboot when rebooted click the popup box to do not show this. As you install programs a lot of them install so they bootup from start but there is no need for them to do so. They can be started in the normal way all programs that start automatically use up memory

you really need 2 gb memory with xp or vista for it to run properly.if you only have 512 the computer is using hard drive for temp memory s;owing it down
