  1. If you have any automatic backup software disable it or change how often it makes a backup (recommended).

  2. I don't know about Vista but agree with MC---there is a worm on your computer that is eating disk space.please use a good anti virus.

  3. stop downloading stuff. dont do any updates.

    dont backup your hard drive

  4. well Jack............i have also 80 GB HDD......but if u r facing this problem that u have writtren abbove...then u shud consult ur computer vendor.......i think u shud turn off ur automatic uparade from ursystem.....i think this is th reason that...ursystem taking an extra space in ur drive......i think u mst be net user........so according to me.....u shud do this fost..then.......go to support.microsoft.com then consult ur computer vendro//...

    gud luck..................bbye

  5. im pretty sure that your hard drive space can spontaneously be taken up while you dont do anything to contribute to it

  6. i m sure that there is a virus in your computer. because virus keeps spreading and it has its own size, so when it increases then the hard drive space decreases. try downloading antivirus. or format your computer and re install it.

  7. Windows Vista? It has a nasty habit of backing up everything on your computer over and over just incase you have a lost file that you need recovered and is actually a safety feature. If you know that everything is currently working correctly, you can clear this data by right clicking the drive in "Computer", going to properties, clicking the "Disk Cleanup" button by the blue and pink icon, then clicking the "More Options" tab in the top of the new window and clicking "Clean Up..." in the System Restore and Shadow Copies section.

By doing that to my copy just now it cleared up 55GB of "backups versions" on my own hard drive.
