Question:

My computer isn't connecting to the monitor?

I am trying to get the pictures off my old computer, which has been sitting in the basement for well over a year, unused. I am pretty sure the reason we got the new computer was because that one was having issues, but I don't remember if it is the same thing. The computer is turning on, but it isn't connecting to the monitor. Is this a simple fix or will I need to buy a bunch of parts, because like I said, we have a new computer, but I would LOVE to get all of the pics off the old computer. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance!!

  1. Try with another monitor or try to buy a new batery for the motherboard 3volt lithium about $4.00 in homedepot and replace.

  2. Crack open the case and remove the harddrive. Go to newegg.com and scope out one of the external harddrive cases from vantec. Buy one that will fit your drive, either ide or sata. When you get it, install your drive into the case and connect it to your new PC using USB or firewire, depening on what you use.

Then you can use the old drive as an external usb drive.
