My computer isn't recognizing DirectX, what should I do?

I've been trying to run Sims2 and I told me that I need to get DirectX 9.0c, I downloaded it but Sims is still telling me that I need to download it and that it can't find the files.

what should I do?

  1. Install the directx that is found inside the sim setup disk.

    Those contains some specific version of directx *dll files that are necessary for running the game.
