I've reinstalled iTunes, I've checked the USB port, I bought a new cable, and the computer doesn't recognize my iPod still. It charges and it plays but I can't upload new songs. What can I do? thanks

  1. I was having the same problem and was searching in google for an answer, and your question came up. I Looked for an answer and found one myself by fiddling around with my 3rd Gen Nano and it suddenly worked! =P

    Did you try this?

    1) Uninstall all iPod software, not iTunes.

    2) Restart Computer

    3) Go to Start -> Run -> and type msconfig in the run box

    4) Click on the Services tab

    5) Check the box down at the bottom, "Hide All Microsoft Services"

    6) Uncheck the iPod service that is listed, click Apply and then restart your computer.

    7) Once rebooted, go to C:\Program Files\ and delete the iPod directory

    8) Reinstall the iPod software.
