I have XP SP2,used to be SP3 before reformatting, Pentium 4 3.0ghz,1gb Ram DDR2 PC533,Radeon X1300/1550 video card on a MSI MS-7140 motherboard for 2 years now.yesturday i opened the case just to clean a little bit of the computer without taking out any hardware or plugs.just dusting the inside the case. When i went put everything back and turn on the computer it starts up fine but after using it for somethings 10mins,2hours,or even just a minute the computer freezes or restarts.i turned off the automatic restart and then the bsod shows an error.its either page fault,or that IRQL thing.I reformatted the computer and it was going fine.without even installing any programs its still restarted, but after about 2 hours.then sometimes when i restart it it shows "Microsoft has recovered from a serious error, and i clicked "more info" then it shows 2 files but i looked them up, its just dump files the computer did.when i have the bsod sometimes there is a memory dump and sometimes it says something to chkdsk /f which i did more than 5 times, but same problems.i tried to do everything i could.the only thing i could think of is overheat, sometimes the cpu temp is 50c-55c but most of the times below 50c.could it be memory RAM?the slots for the RAM or any other slots?the video card never had a problem and i did test it.please help me with some advice.the only thing i could thing of is the overheating so im replacing the fan and heatsink ,since i broke the heatsink clips after cleaning it, and of course to reapply the thermal grease and i barely saw some when i took the part off.but just incase its not the problem what could it be?ive ruled out software problems,so i know this has to be a hardware but which one,and why?and by the why, sometimes if i move the cpu, like shake it or last time when i was putting it back on the desk it freezes, could something be loose?but the biggest concern is the BSOD after using the computer for awhile or freezing when opening a program or simply just moving the mouse.and sometimes during start-up before the computer shows the "Windows XP" the loading thing, its just a black screen with a blinking line on the top left corner of the screen, and sometimes after booting the drives it loads but stops before the Windows XP loding screen.thanks, and please try to help out

  1. From your desc, I suspect static might have damaged the memory, run a memtest86 to check the memory before wasting time searching for answers.

  2. I think is the RAM of the computer. or if not. its the mother board itself.

  3. If you have been dusting things inside the case i would double check every connection, ram, pci cards, graphics cards just incase. second install XP SP3 and then download all the latest drivers for your motherboard and graphics card. BSOD is often caused by drivers, being out of date and conflicting.

  4. You need to repair clean up the registry documents.
