My computer says DVD on the drive where the CD's go.?

IT DOESN'T WORK. I PUT A DVD IN AND NOTHING. HELP! I can play music but no DVD. Please help me if you can.

  1. mmm, possible that the dvd reading part of the drive doesn't work.... (it broke on my laptop.... it can read cd's but not dvds) or the dvd is messed up or something, try different dvd's and see if the computer actually recognizes that there IS a dvd in there, by going to My Computer and looking to see whats in that drive.


  2. you have to make shore that you got DVD drive, because CD player won't play DVD for you...

  3. Likely, you are not using software with a dvd codec.  You can try using powerdvd/windvd or go with a free option: VLC ( http://www.videolan.org )

    For example: by default, windows media player does not play dvds.
