My computer says i have a virus, can someone help?

on my computer, it says theres a virus and my anti virus which is AVG 8.0 has it in the virus vault. and AVG 8.0 will not update, so i want to un install AVG 8.0 and re install AVG 7.5, but since i have a virus in the virus vault, what should i do?

should i un-install it anyway?

or do i risk my comp being harmed by the virus?

If I were you I would install MacroVirus antivirus software.  I have it and I love it.  Ya, its not one of the free antivirus programs, but I believe it does come with a free trial.  I would rather pay, and know that my antivirus software will keep my computer safe, then download a free program and get infected.

  2. It will ask you if you want to keep it in the virus vault or delete it.I would recommend that you keep it in the virus vault.

  3. If it's in the vault it shouldn't be able to do any harm.  

    Back up your important files and try to do a system restore to before you got the virus and then try to update AVG.
