  1. try avast and avira they are giving free anti virus free for personal use

  2. I agree with everyone else. AVG.

However please note that if the messages your are receiving also include "Download blah blah blah to clean your computer now" you may have spy ware that is trying to trick you into buying a anti-virus program. Even many websites have pop up ads such as this.

Use Firefox to increase your general internet security and stop all those pop up adds.

Use AVG for a fast, free, and reliable anti-virus.

Use Ad-Aware for quick removal of spy/ad-ware.

  4. If you have windows XP a good FREE Antivirus program -- Avast, AVG, or Comodo.

I am using Comodo. It seems to use less memory.

To get rid of spyware -- download SUPERAntiSpyware Free.

If you have XP try using Windows Defender that you already have installed. This should detect & remove some of the infections.

    Hoped this helped.

  5. Windows live onecare has 90-day free trial period.  Do you like? or Nod32 30-day trial.

  6. the best free anti-virus out there are Avast and AVG

They're both free and really do the job. You need to register in order to use Avast though (Enter your email, they send the code, and paste it in when they ask for the license)

  7. Avast boot scan in Windows safe mode is the most effective way to get rid of stubborn trojans and viruses that keep coming back to haunt you. These trojan and viruses hide themselves in system restore folder and many anti-virus programs cannot get rid of them. So whenever, you restart your PC, the viruses are restore back by WIndows.

Avast boot scan help to get rid of them in the system restore folders and ensure your system are clean.
