My computer says its missing NTLDR ?

Question

(computer says "NTLDR is missing Press Ctrl+Alt+Del to restart" i did but it came to the same error) i tried using my recovery CD or the cd you use to reformat. however it did not work it still said miss NTLDR.. ive tried a few other things as well like saving a file i downloaded from this site http://tinyempire.com/notes/ntldrismissing.htm onto a cd but no help.. plz someone help me im totally clueless ...

That fix only works if say, your NTLDR was on a bad sector, got corrupted and you reinstalled it on good sectors.

But that is fairly rare when it comes to NTLDR errors. Most of the time it is caused by some sort of major hard drive issue.

Since you used the recovery cd, and it still does not work, I am willing to bet that the drive is on it's way to the big computer in the sky, if you know what I mean.

Bring it in for service, and have them replace the hard drive. If you want  you can pay them to diagnose it, because there is no guarantee that my online diagnosis is the correct one..

I cured this by grabbing the file from another machine and copying on to mine. I then made it read only

A few years ago this kept happening but it doesn't seen that often now.

I think that a MS up date cured this but I am not sure

for some reason the loader file isn't found or corrupt. You will probably have to reload. Have you tried safe mode??

hahahaha lol xd umm only time this has happened to me is when the bios not reading hard drive go into bios make sure bios sees hard drive could be os try safe mode too haha

This may sound stupid, but this can also happen if you try to boot your computer with a floppy disk in the drive.  The NT loader error happens because your computer is trying to boot from the floppy if that's how you have it setup in your BIOS.  I know that's an easy fix but sometimes that's all it takes.
