Question:

My computer starts aol automatically. how can i disable this?

when switching on computer it goes straight to internet page. there is no option for signing on and i have no desktop shortcuts.my supplier is bt internet

  1. Click START, then RUN.

    Type MSCONFIG in the box and hit enter.

    Click the tab marked STARTUP. Remove the checkmark from America Online.

    Click APPLY. Click OK.

    Restart the computer.

  2. i see alot of people sugesting you use msconfig,  its better to go into the aol program and find a settings menu, in there should be an option to disable that. if you have vista and you use msconfig you get a popup telling you windows disabled programs on startup, it gets annoying

  3. No.  Don't do that.

    On the bottom, right side of your screen you will see the AOL icon.  Right click on it and go to the start up settings and just change your preference

  4. uninstall it

  5. go to start menu, click run, type msconfig,make sure your on start up,  then turn of aol

    msconfig and click ok

    click on the start up tab

    look for aol or any other programs you dont want to open on start up and uncheck them

    restart your computer

  9. Go to start > run > type msconfig > click on startup tab> uncheck AOL here, click apply then ok , restart it should not start up now

  10. it wont go easily but uninstall it and it should disable it on start up if not then go

    Start>>run>>msconfig>>click the startup tab>> untick the aol program
