Well my computer just stops on the black screen......It's not even near to the windows loading screen yet it just stops on a black screen....

I've tried going on safe mode but it doesn't even let me, it just stops on the "system32\config\system" and I've also tried system recovery, didnt work, havent tried he "destructive" cuz there's ALOT of data on my computer...>_>

It justs stops on a BLACK SCREEN for some reason and theres no usb or anything plugged to the computer that would cause that....DEMONIC SCREEN......

And if its any important, when i touch the power off button it just instantly turns off on the black screen, when its on the hp screen, it takes like 3 seconds to turn off, dont know if that happens to other computers...

Currently typing on an another computer (friends) but please reply with good news...

Would appreciated it :)

  1. I suggest, Switch off the power supply. Remove the cabinet, if its a desktop model. Make sure there is no static electricity left by just touching any component.

Then Remove your RAM from the slot and put it back.

Make sure you remember how the RAM was plugged. Plug it in the same way back.

Try restarting.. Hopefully this should work...

    Cheers

  2. While you're on your friend's computer, download the GParted LiveCD ISO file and ImgBurn. Then use ImgBurn to burn the ISO to a CD. Now take your CD back to your computer and boot to it. Just hit enter for all the settings and it should eventually come up with a screen showing all of the partitions on your hard drive. Right click on your largest partition, click Resize and shrink it. You'll need about 4 GB for XP or 10 GB for Vista. Afterwards you should have an unallocated space next to the partition. Right-click on that and create a new NTFS partition.

Now put your Windows install disc in and install it to your new partition. Now you can put all of your old files onto an external drive. Then reformat the whole drive, partition it off however you had it before and reinstall Windows.

It might not be necessary to do all of this, but it's definitely the quickest and easiest way. Since your computer turns off right away after you push the power button, that means that nothing has been loaded, no services have been started, etc. Which basically means that no part of your operating system is loading. If it were as simple as a missing file it would come up with an error message like "NTLDR is missing" or something similar. Obviously it's not anything as easily fixed as that, so reinstalling is the easiest option.

  3. good news it could just be your RAM. There might have been a power surge. It could be a simple hardware problem. Just a simple replace a component and you are up and running.

  4. What I'd suggest to you s backup your data. Either "slave" this disk at your friends place or use a Linux Live CD to copy to an external drive, cuz from what I see, destructive recovery seems to be pretty much the only option..

You have already done the rest:

Checked no new H/W or S/W added.

Tried Booting in safe mode, last known good configuration,step-by-step boot

Tried system re-install... (Non Destructive Recovery)...

Who knows what happened with windows.. Maybe it was a driver that was installed automatically by windows update last night, or something you downloaded 3 months back...

    Best of Luck mate..

  5. Try opening up the casing (if not a notebook pc) after disconnecting the power. Gently press the RAM, ics, connectors and other cards to ensure they're seated properly.

Reconnect power and try booting again.

  6. Boot from your windows CD after loading it asks what you want to do fresh install etc choose R for repair and follow instructions from there

If your windows not badly damaged it will repair Your O/S

And away you go all files intact

  7. helps if we had some specs on pc. like saying my car stopped, has gas.

Please tell us make model etc.
