My computer suddenly stopped playing volume?

My volume on my computer stopped working. my volume icon even dissapeared. Anyways i went to control pannel and clicked on adjust volume and it said(exact words)there are no active mixer devices available. yo install mixer devices go to control panel and click the add hardware) but i dont know what to when i get there or anything so please just help because i have had this problem for a long time and dont know what to do.and i have tried checking all those things.

Go to control panel then performance and maintenance then system  once in system properties go to hardware then device manager then open up sound video and game controllers by clicking on + and check for any yellow exclamation marks next to audio codecs or audio drivers if there is click right on it and update driver even if not try updating them anyway. If no joy with that download Vinyl deck (codec combo driver wdm).

If you have CD's that came with your computer named something like hardware or drivers then pop that CD in your cd drive and install your audio driver again.
