My computer turns off sometimes for no reason - anyone know why?

So i guess sometimes when i have multiple programs running - usually if i'm running something like a virus scan or disc cleanup or burning a cd - my computer sounds like it's working really hard and then it will just shut off, even if it's plugged in and it won't go back on right away. i have to wait for a few minutes. what do i do to fix this problem?

due to the virus it was like this,format your system and use kaspersky antivirus software that would be best for pc and laptop.or you may scan the pc with antivirus software which i told u to use.dont re format but format full.insert xp cd after that as per options do it,its very easy to format.other wise contact any one who now formating the system.
