My computer use to tell me if someone called on the phone and I could decide if I wanted to answer or not.?

I have AT&T DSL. Is the phone supposed to kick me off line?

  1. well dsl uses multiplexing wich in your case maybe you had dail up before and then switch to dsl. your dsl and your phones are switched to where you can be on line and it will not intrupt your phones its two seperate signals.good luck


  2. There is a lot of missing information from your question.

    Did you just recently switch to AT&T DSL with AT&T phone?

    It sounds like you may not have caller ID service activated with your AT&T service?  You may have to pay extra for that...

    Using phone should not disrupt your DSL Internet connection, unless the phone is defective?

    - Make sure the DSL filters are correctly installed.

    - Disconnect all telephones in house, and then only test 1 phone at a time and see if any specific phone is the problem.

    If above suggestions don't fix problem, call AT&T customer service - it's their job to help you fix the problem.
