My computer will not boot ?

My computer is messed up bad first my primary master is set and dvd drives and says windows config cannot read from selected disk drive. so i set the primary master to auto and the dvd drives stay the same. i put in the windows xp setup disk and everything goes great then it says windows installation will restart your computer and continue installation. it restarts and then just goes back to cd setup and trys to install windows again how do i get it so it will continue to the actual setup

  1. Open BIOS  and in boot order put the cd first and the hard disk second. If you have more from each, in the corresponding submenus select the ones that are primary in your hardware setup to be the first.

    Also as a general rule the hard disk with XP or any other Windows OS must be set as primary on the IDE 0 channel or in SATA 1.

    Once you are sure this has been done exactly as above, reboot with the XP install disk.
