My computer will not recognize my camcorder. HELP?

I have a canon zr 200 and im running it firewire into my comp that has vista os. Canon tells me that it doesnt need a driver and vista is telling me it does. On top of all that i cant find adriver for it anywhere.

It's well known that Vista had (has?) problems with firewire, and I've heard of other people having the same problem as you.  If possible, I'd go back to XP or maybe try setting up a dual boot system with XP and Vista so that you can capture your video.  If that's not an option, maybe you could try creating an Ubuntu boot CD (or a dual boot system) and do the video capture with a Linux app like Kino.
