Question:

My computer won't play sound, I think I deleted something important.?

My computer is a Toshiba 2300. I'm not sure what I did but one thing I know is that the touchpad (when pressed) is supposed to let you adjust the volume. When I press it, it shows me the volume is down to the minimum but I can't raise it (by scrolling up on the pad). I was trying to make my laptop run faster by freeing up some space on it and delete some unused files. I went through control panel and deleted a lot of the "rarely used" programs but I think something was in there that I shouldn't have taken out. Could anyone tell me what that file may be, how to get it back, or am I just doomed? Any and all help with this would be greatly appreciated.

  1. Click START

    Click Control Panel

    Click on System

    Click on Hardware

    Click on Device Manager

Click on the + by Sound, video, game Contollers

*IF* you see any Yellow & Black ! point or Red X  UNINSTALL them

Note: Even IF you don't see the above mentioned ! or X, just UNINSTALL the sound card drivers anyway, then do the Shutdown

    Shutdown your computer, NOT RESTART

Wait at least 2 minutes then restart computer

Windows SHOULD find and REinstall  the drivers

  2. Restore it back to before you made the change.
