My computer won't read a mini dvd.?

I bought some Pinnacle software( that's what the salesman said I needed) My pc still won't read a mini dvd from my Sony camcorder. Any ideas. TIA

  1. Did you finalize the disk with the camcorder?  The finalized disk can then be read by most DVD drives/players.
