My computer won't recognise my new ipod..........??

Question

When we plug it into the USB port the little device icon appears at the bottom right hand side but then it disappears, why?

How can we install our ipod.

Its an ipod shuffle, we have successfully installed 2 others could this one be faulty?

Make sure you have a full power USB connection (many laptops and keyboard connectors only give 100mA max ratehr than the full 500mA, also do not connect via an unpowered hub either.

connect it direct to the computer on a full power USB port and it should be OK.

make sure you have the latest itunes installed 7.7.1 (7.8 due soon)

and reset the ipod before connection (menu and centre key till screen blanks then connect once it lights up).

they MAy work when fully powered but if they are flat they wont charge and so cant connect!
