I put the disk into my computer, but my computer won't even recognize the disk to install it. It has the same icon as if there was no disk in there. I clicked on it, but it says to insert a disk. I restarted my computer to see if that works, but it didn't. What should I do?

  1. Is the disk in good condition? If it is dusty, dirty, or has fingerprints on it, it could be causing it not to read. Spray a little amount of Windex on the surface of the disk and use a non-abrasive cloth to wipe dry.

If the disk has anywhere from minor to major scratches/scuffs, this could also be causing it not to read. Use your fingers and gently rub toothpaste into the surface of the disk. Use circular motions to cover the entire disk in a light layer of toothpaste. Let it sit for about 20 seconds and rinse with water while wiping with a non-abrasive cloth until the toothpaste is entirely off the disk. Dry with a non-abrasive cloth, and try your disk again.

If this does not work, your drive may not be working correctly. You might have to go into your Device Manager to Troubleshoot your CD Drive or possibly update drivers.

    Edit: Nice Edit.

  2. Simple , go to my computer , the you should see the sims icon on the E: drive . just right click on it and choose run or install

Edit: if the surface is scratchy , use tooth paste (yes this may sound crazy)   and apply it on the disk surface . wait a little bit and wash it of with water
