i have a dell dimension E520 and i just recieved my Geforce 9600GT superclocked 512Mb. but i have a 305W power supply and the min requirement for the card is 400W. i wanted to try it out anyway so i unplugged the dvd drive and installed the card, installed drivers and reboot. worked fine. even tried devil may cry4 and it was smooth. i exit the game but right after installing a program, the computer just turned. not shut down, turned off. i try turning it back on but the power light flashes orange. everytime i try to power it, i hear the fan make a quick turn and then stop. i took off the grafics card and try again but same thing. my computer just won't trun on.

that was last night.

this morning i tried again after a while, it turned on and before it could log on windows it turned off and refuses to turn back on again.

what do u think went on??

PC: 2.8GHz process, 3.7GB RAM

card: 9600GT superclocked, 512mb

  1. This is a power supply problem, because it does not generate enough power to turn on the computer.  You need to order a new power supply directly from Dell, if you order from some other company it only work for couple of weeks and then the problem continue.

  2. Try to unplug the computer and press the start button until the little green light goes off. Do this while the computer is unpluged. Then replug the computer and start it again

  3. you have answered your own questoin

    Get a 500 watt PSU

  4. I think you killed the power supply by overloading it.

  5. haha yeah a new PSU is a good idea. (Preferably a 500W PSU) XP
