My computer wont let me listen to music when i plug in my earphones Why?

when i plug in my earphones i dont get any sound so my question is why? i tried everything that i know of to get sound thru my earphones but some reason it wont work i would really love to know why, so that i can listen to Tokio Hotel without making anyone mad at my house lol. So please help me.

omg! this happened to me last night and i totally freaked out. ive been having heaps of problems with my laptop lately, and i really didnt need this lol. try restarting your computer, but before that, unplug all your earphones, mouses or anything in a usb port. dont click anything until everything is 100% loaded, then give it a try. this worked for me, hope it helps :)
