My computer wont load past the welcome screne?

I have a Delll 410 XPS with Windows XP, I was moving stuff around in my house and I unplugged everything off of the computer (internet, mouse, keyboard, etc) and it was off for about 3 hours then I put it back together, and now when I start it up it just gets all the way to the blue welcome screen and goes no further Im not sure why or how to fix it, can anyone help me?

when you get to the welcome screen:

ctrl+alt+del twice, will, take you to a log in box.

type in

User name:administrator

and press enter (dont type user name:) just administrator and press enter and see if you can log on that way...

restart and tap the F8 key during boot until you get the advanced start menu.  Choose safemode.  If you can get into safemode, then I would suggest running the "system restore" to a few days ago or whatever is close, and then let it reboot normally.  If that doesn't help, then I would boot off the XP cd and run a repair install of Windows.
