My computer won't respond

Question

I did not touch anything on the computer and was doing research for a paper and left it for a second and when I returned the screen was black and the power lights were blinking. Usually when this happens I touch the touch pad and it'll come back on but this time it didn't so I tried to turn the power on and off and I also tried to turn the visuals on and off and it did not respond. Every time I restart it pressing the power button it comes on the same way and will not show anything I do not know what the problem is or how to resolve it Please Help..
