My computer wont start?

i want to improve the performance of my computer by restoring the factory settings and when it was beninning to do that my computer went dead. that was 10 hours ago. now all my computer will do is switch on for about half a minute and die again, when it does start up for that short time the screen is totally black except for a flashing white line in the top left had corner. i cant put in the disk and repair anything cos it wont stay on!! any ideas whats wrong with it?

  1. Your Comp is most probably overheating, let is rest for a day or 2 and then try again. and if you still have same problem, then change the power supplier.  


  2. Its not POSTing Power On Self Test ,does the keyboard lights flash..? does it beep many times...? I would pull the bios battery out and clear ,then put it back in and try again.During that half a minute try to put the install disk into the tray and retry...check your wiring and any memory sticks and make sure everything is proper....good luck and remember persistance pays off...

  3. either a power supply, on board video, or it is overheating

    i bet it is the on board video is shot.  Easiest fix is to replace the motherboard or call for a rma if it is still under warranty
