"I have a windows XP and while playing runescapethe page froze ((not blameing runescape, I play it all the time, this has never happened)) this was a while after downloading firefox3 though, so I did what I normally do when my screen freezes I pushed the computers on button until the computer turned off, then I went to start it back up, but it took my to a black screen that had various start up options, such as

"Safe mode" and two other variations of safe mode, a

"start up as last successful start up" ((or something along those lines)) and

"normal start up"

No matter which one I clicked, it wouldn't work, normal start up and "start up as last successful...." at least took me to the windows XP loading page, but it didn't pass there, it would go back to that page.

Anyone think they can help? please?"

That had been my last message, but once again trying to fix it I got a screen saying I needed to re boot, I have the CD but my computer, being made by my father, had no CD Rom, I went to the store and had them install a CD burner, they were out of CD roms, will it read my disk the same?

Also, it goes to the black start up page, how do I make it go to the reboot page? and what should I do once there, besides putting the cd in?

thanks a bunch, really <3

  1. 1. Start your computer.

    2. When you see the "Please select the operating system to start" message, press the F8 key.

    3. When the Windows Advanced Options menu appears, use the ARROW keys to select Last Known Good Configuration (your most recent settings that worked), and then press ENTER.

    4. If you are running other operating systems on your computer, use the ARROW keys to select Microsoft Windows XP, and then press ENTER.

  5. To start up the computer: Eject all discs from the computer and try.

To play RuneScape: Update your Java.

  6. well wat do you mean by reboot you mean formating (deleting)everything on your computer

..so you try all those and none of them work did you try on save mode

  7. If you want to salvage your computer then when you try the recovery disk, there should be an option to save your files. If you don't, then take the hard drive out and stick it in a new one.

  8. if u can start in safe mode and do a system restore in the systems folder. if that doesn't work your going to have to restore your computer to the state of when u first bought it. and yes a cd rom is a cd rom rather it writes cds dvds etc its all the same. only difference is a dvd rom can write dvds, a cd writer can't write dvds but cant music and data. and a normal cd rom can't write anything
