i recently reformatted my computer, and now my sound doesn't work. Ive tried updating the drivers and using multiple programs to search for errors, but nothing seems to work. I did use Realtek hd audio manager before, but i cant seem to find a download for it, can i use another program or do i have to use Realtek? or am i just screwed all together?

  1. Download AC'97

  2. Make sure your output setting are not"Digital" when using analogue speaker and vise versa.

plug your speaker into the right hole. green one for stereo.

install your program by CD or check your MB model# (Mostly printed on board) and download it from manufacturers website.

AND most importain: not to mute your sound volume.

double click the speaker icon on the system tray and see.

  3. check to make sure the sound drivers are ok, Right click on My Computer > Properties > Hardware tab > Device manager > look for sound video and game controllers > if it has an exclamation mark on it right click on it and update driver, you can either install the drive from a cd or drivers disk or allow windows to attempt to find it on the web

  4. i think you still didn't install all the driver. Try to go to your computer's band's website and search for the audio driver for that model. Because i have this problem too, and i search their website and download the audio driver, then it work.

    hope this information can help..

  5. Make sure the sound drivers are OK. You might not have installed the drivers provided by your Processor or sound card manufacturer.

To check is you have installed drivers go to:

Run> type dxdiag> go to sound tab

if it shows sound card as : n/a then you must install drivers.

  6. make your life simple just buy a new sound card and install it's driver's and you have sound again

  7. Go into your sound settings in control panel. Get into the settings where you adjust the different volumes (ie for microphone, stereo, mono etc) Make sure the volumes are up and make sure the mute button is unticked. I'd be a millionaire if I got a dollar for the times I had a sound problem as a result of the mute button been ticked

  8. You need to find out what type of sound chip or sound card you have on your computer. Download sisandra

    http://www.sisoftware.co.uk/

This should be able to tell you about your system components. Go onto the website that supplies your sound card, search for the product number and download the latest drivers.

  9. I worked on one machine with the Realtek HD Audio Manager which overrided the Windows controls with the selection of source and output. If your software is installed again, navigate their horrible menus and ensure that the correct output is selected (e.g. headphones, line out) instead of obscure ones like SPDIF or optical.
