Question:

My condensate pump is making a strange gurgling noise just after it runs. Any ideas what could cause this?

Observing the pump in action, it seems like water might be flowing back through the tube toward the pump a few seconds after the pump runs.

  1. its just the freon equalizing preasure in the lines after it shuts off   ..........its normal

  2. Any signs of leakage in the condensate system? could be some air is getting in on the suction side of the pump. This would give the appearance you are seeing. If the suction line is full of condensate and the discharge line is full you should not experience what you are seeing.

  3. Mine did that - wouldn't drain and ran constantly.

Check all the rubber parts to see if they're in working order - I don't know what the name of the things are, but I had a worn out piece of rubber that caused the problem with mine.

I was able to get a replacement piece of rubber (about the size of a nickel/quarter) that allowed the water to flow only one way.

If I hadn't gotten the cust. svc. rep I did, I would have had to buy another pump. Older pump - no replacement parts.  She remembered seeing some of these things in a drawer around the office & sent them to me.

Worst case scenario is you'll have to buy another pump - at least they're not as expensive as a lot of other replacement things!

  4. this is for your a/c right. you dont have a drain near the air handler so you have a pump to remove the condesation from the tray. if this is the case a noise is normal but you are supposed to put white vinegar in the pump once a month to kill mold which can cause a backflow making the nosie worse. a capful is good
