I recently went to walmart for contact prescription. Havent had it checked in 3 years. I used to use normal soft lenses with 2.50 in my right eye and 3.50 in my left eye. NOW I went to walmart and they said I need TORIC lenses and my prescription is 2.50 again in my right eye. but only 2.75 in my left eye. Why would my left eye get better when i notice NO change. And clearly the lenses itself didnt change my prescription because right eye is the same? Help I am too afraid to renew because i feel my prescription is WRONG! Advice?

  1. You haven't given all the information with respect to the toric need.  If you have a need for toric lenses there should be 3 numbers associated with each eye....for example:

-2.50 -0.75 x 180 or something of that nature.  If you had a small amount of astigmatism before, you may have been able to wear the spherical lenses with no problems.  Sometimes a patient is fit with the spherical equivalent of their astigmatic prescription.  For example, if you were -2.75 -100 x180, your spherical equivalent would be -3.25 (close to the -3.50 you were wearing in the past).  If you could provide more information, I can tell you more about your situation.
