My contacts are turning my eyes red whenever I put them. I first got them for Christmas and they were fine my eyes were fully white and they didn't irratate me or anything. So, anyways a couple of months after i fell asleep for about 6 hours with my contacts. I got them out and I went to the doctors got some eye drops and didn't where them for two weeks (as directed). So, i could where them for a couple of weeks and then my eyes would hurt and get red. I would get them checked out get some drops and not where them for a couple of weeks. Then I put them in again, and like when i came home my eye was fully red. So, I don't really know what to do, what is wrong?

  1. Your contacts are infected and probably need to deep clean. Do you do daily cleaning with cleaning solution and weekly cleaning with protien tablets? Or maybe daily cleaning with protein drops?

Anyway, remember contacts have to be cleaned unless they are disposable ones that u throw out each day, or they mess up yr eyes.

  2. your eyes are probly infected. with something like pink eye or just allergies. just go about a week with out your contacts. [[ use glasses if you have them ]] and throw out those contacts and after a week use a fresh, clean pair. go to the optimologist if you can.

  3. first make sure that there are no tears or nicks in your contacts.

I'd bet that the problem is allergies, it is that time of year. if I don't wear my contacts my eyes don't bother me, just sneezing and runny nose. with contacts my eyes itch, if I take my zyrtec I'm fine.  The contacts just increase my eyes sensitivity to allergens and smoke.  try taking an allergy medication.

if they are disposable try a new pair, if yearly wear get an enzyme cleaner (if you've been wearing the same pair since x-mass your way over due). and if you haven't been wearing them for a couple of weeks your eyes may need to adjust to them again.

  4. It sounds like you just need to clean them. You may want to go the drug store and pick up some CIBA Vision Clear Care. Get the one that comes with the little cleaning container where you soak the lenses for 6 hours. They feel like new afterwards =)

  5. First, you might want to check what type of contact lenses you have. You may have rigid contact lenses or RGP lenses. These lenses can easily irritate the eye by not letting in oxygen. Oxygen is needed for healthy eyes. If they turn up to be so, ask you eye doctor about soft lenses or toric lenses. They help irritable eyes while letting in much needed oxygen.

You might also have an astigmatism. This is a very common vision problem that has to do with the shape of ones cornea or an irregularly shaped lens inside the cornea. It is usually easy to spot, but not always noticed. Most soft contacts can help astigmatism, but some lenses have chemicals to help product natural moister that can irritate those with this condition. Simply ask your eye doctor for a test or learn more on your own.

    Hope this information helps!!
