Question:

My contacts feel funny at the edges and move around a lot, will this go away?

I went to the optometrist today to get fitted with these contacts...soft but non-disposable because I found the soft disposables were absorbing much of the water in my eyes. As soon as I put them in I felt they were too big or something...rubbing at the edges of my eyelids and not really staying in position as well as the previous contacts I've worn. I told the optometrist and she said that it was normal to feel the edges and that I'd get used to it (but I've had nondisposables in the past and never felt the edges!). What should I do? I feel like she didn't take me seriously. She gave me them for a week to try out. Even just looking at the contacts, they appear larger than what I've worn in the past. Is it true that these lenses should be felt at the edges and that this will go away? Any optometrists/opticians out there??

  1. You could possibly have sensitivity to the contact brand or the sollution you are using.

Try out some different sollutions and use eye drops.

  2. It could be either.  You should at least give them 2 days...if you don't notice any change in comfort (for the better) call them and get scheduled sooner.  They should have taken you more seriously...but then again...if they don't hurt...try the lenses out.  At least this way, you will be able to tell them it didn't change and any other problems or dislikes you have about the lenses
