My contacts make my eyes SOOOO dry!!!!!!!

I use Acuvue Hydraclear for Astigmatism. My eyes get SOOOOOO dry with them in even if I haven't had them in for a while. But it is like when I use contacts, I have to squeeze my eye shut a lot. When I'm not wearing them, I'm fine. I don't want answers like "talk to your eye doctor". I just want help from your own experience. I don't use eye drops, and I don't think I would do well will them.

PLEASE HELP!!!

Thanks so much!

  1. I'm sorry but i think that using eye drops or talking to your doctor are your only options. In my experience, if your contacts are too dry, you need to switch brands. The only time i've had this problem was when the doc wanted me to try Acuvue Oasys instead of my usual Advance. They were too dry so i went back to Advance and had no problems.

  2. The only thing besides going to your optometrist or asking for new eye drops, is that maybe put a couple drops of solution on the contact before putting it in. There are artificial tears made for dry eyes. And also, great eyedrops.

  3. you could try a different brand of contacts. I had the same problem ( i wore the same kind you do). Eye drops only work for so long and get dry again. Maybe you should talk to your doctor and explain the problem and he can try to fit you in a different kind of contact.

  4. try acuvue oasys. or blink eye drops

  5. I don't "DO" well with eye drops either...but sometimes you need to try!...I just had catarack surgery, and I have 3 different drops to drop in my eye several times a day.

What you need is an eyedrop called "REAL TEARS"...(ask an optician for other suggestions) ... but you definitely need to ADD moisture.   I CANNOT STAND TO HAVE ANYTHING COME NEAR MY EYE BALL.  So, law back, pull your lower eyelid down and squeeze the bottle to let one drop out IN your lower lid--then grab the lashes of that lower lid and LOOK from left to right to moisturize your eyeball with the drop of fluid.  Have a kleenex handy in case you miss.  As the optician how many drops is enough!

    You'll do it!

  6. I had the same exact problem you had.  I have astigmatism as well.  First I had some generic brand of contacts that I could see out of very well but my eyes would be bone dry in like 5 hours so they couldnt keep up with my 14 hour day.  I then went to the doctor for my check up and told him the problem.  He gave me Acuvue Oaysis and they have been fantastic so far.  Here is the main tip, go out and buy a contact lense solution called Clean Clear.  It is kind of expensive for contact lense solution but it is worth it.  It comes with a stand up case instead of the flat one.  Clean Clear removes all the proteins which make your eyes dry which most contact solutions cannot remove well.  Good luck.
