My controller has stopped working?

i have dish network and for some reason my controller has just stopped working. at first it would just go through baterries really fast but i thought it was because the batteries i used might have been low. but yesterday it just stopped working out of no where. i put my show on pause and then after about fourty minutes i pressed play and then for some reason when i tried fast forwarding it didn't work. so of course i tried every button and i kept changing batteries but nothing. i know its not the batteries because they are brand new and the light is going on still. this is really long but if anybody had this problem and fixed it can you please tell me if theres like a secret button or something so i can fix it/

No secret button. Just call up your service provider and they should be able to fix that pretty quickly for you.
