I have a Sharp AR-M277 and when ever it copies or prints it makes a knocking noise. When I fax it doesn't make a noise. Just when it has to print or copy.

  1. TO isolate the source of the noise, you need to compare what is running when you are copying/printing and what is not running in the system when you are sending fax. When faxing, I am assuming you are not running a confimation page, because that is the same as getting copies, so the noise is coming from the paper feed or the imaging area (print cartridge area) or the output area. There could be a worn belt or gear that is causing the noise. Run different paper trays and see if the noise is coming only from a tray so you can isolate the source. Otherwise, you need to palce a service call to the authorized service dealership.

  2. After it makes the knocking noise reply with

    "Who's there?"
