  1. I'd just release the snakes in a field or something when they are young. maybe a pond

  2. It IS possible for a female to become gravid in the absence of a male. Corns and many other snakes can retain sperm from previous encounters with mates (sometimes as long as a year) and spontaneously become gravid.

To determine whether the eggs are fertile, use a small LED flashlight against the surface of one of the eggs. It's important that you don't turn the eggs because if they are fertile, disruption can kill the embryos inside. Fertile eggs will be well shaped and white in color. You'll notice tiny red veins highlighted by your flashlight on the inside of the shell of a fertile egg. Non-fertile eggs or "slugs" will  ordinarily be small, yellow and hard compared to fertile eggs.

If these are fertile and you want to see the resulting hatchlings emerge, you'll need to incubate them. I use vermiculite (you can find it in the garden section of most stores) as a substrate in my incubator. Just mix it with water until you can pack it into a ball. When you squeeze it, only a drop or two of water should drip off. Use this in a plastic storage bin (Tupperware, for instance) and put a lid on the top. This will need to be kept at a steady 82-83 degrees F for approximately 60 days. If you see the eggs start to collapse or dimple, it may signify that the humidity is too low. You can boost the humidity by adding some moist (not wet) sphagnum moss to the container around, but not touching, the eggs. If the eggs get too wet, they swell and it can have adverse affects on the developing snakes. It's better, in my opinion, to keep conditions too dry than allow them to become too wet.

    Good luck with them.

P.S. -- You really shouldn't be housing corns, or any snakes, together in the same enclosure except for breeding purposes. You didn't say if this was the case or not, but it's an important reminder nonetheless. Females that are too small or too young to be bred can have serious complications as a result. The rule of thumb for breeding most colubrids is "3-3-3": Three years, three feet, three hundred grams. Unless your female is 3 ft. long, 3 years old, and at least 300 grams she shouldn't be exposed to a male. Just an FYI.

  3. give it to ur nearest animal carer so they can take care of them

  4. Are you sure they are eggs and not waste (poo).

  5. i would just get rid would be hard to hatch them all successfully and then you would and dozen odd snakes to find suitable experienced homes for, not the best, more hassle than what its worth probably.

  6. What a bunch of morons answering this question.  F*cking idiots!  Even the apparent 'experienced corn snake owner' gave you a load of c**p.  Person above me has said it all, I just can't believe the c**p some of the absolute t*ssers have come out with.

  7. If you dont want to breed them or go through the trouble of finding a home for the eggs today, 1: you smash them, 2: you try something new for breakfast tomorrow

  8. fry them and have them with bacon

  9. my word i can't believe all the rubbish answers you have been given :(  not all are rubbish just most.

leave the eggs with mom tonight she knows what to do.  it will be easiest on mom if you get an incubator set up tomorrow and remove the eggs from her and put them in an incubator.

my first clutch of eggs was for blood pythons this is what i did. i went to a farm store and bought a incubator for chicken eggs (less than $50.00). do not let the sales person talk you into an egg turner (i say this because the sales person tried to get us to buy one) snake eggs do not need to be turned at all this will kill them. after the eggs were laid we separated the eggs (most people do not separate). make sure to keep mark the tops of the eggs somehow, if they get turned upside down it will kill the snake inside. we took two ziploc containers (the long rectangle size ones) and drilled two very tiny holes in the lids of each container. i put beaked moss in them and got it moist (most people use vermiculite). we laid the eggs on top of the moss put the lids on tightly and put the containers in the incubator. i believe the temp for hatching corn snake eggs is 80 - 85 F. call a reptile vet and find out for sure though.  check several times throughout the day to make sure the temp stays pretty much the same. every other day or so i very very lightly misted the eggs, hardly anything at all. about 2 months later we had snakes. :) after the first little head poked out from an egg i took both lids off of the containers. leave the babies in the shell. they will come out on their own, it may take 24 - 48 hours. we had a few babies that refused to come out of their shells after about 4 days if they are still in the shell you will need to cut open the shell and gently take the snake out. as soon as they come out of the shell transfer them to their enclosure. with my bloods i put all the babies in the same enclosure then after i started feeding them i put the ones that ate in one tank and the ones that did not eat in another tank.

    good luck!

  10. Well unless you mated her or allowed her to mate then the eggs will not be fertile so bin them. If you allowed her to mate, without any equipment or even a breeding plan then you it isn't really the most responsible way to breed is it? But that is not being s****., I know many people end up like this due to not knowing what sexes their snakes are and housing them together. However responsible people such as breeders, certain pet stores, zoos etc do not want them or deserve to be treated as a dumping ground.

It is normal for corns to produce eggs without a mate- my female corn snake has done it two years running, and the second year was producing a second clutch before all the first clutch were out!

If she has just laid them and they are likely to be born normals, then personally I would freeze them- there will be barely anything developed in the egg at this stage, and freezing will kill them if they are fertilised. Millions of normals are born every year and even top professional breeders have trouble selling them all.

Otherwise there are ways and means of incubating them including you either buying an incubator or making one yourself. Or finding someone else to incubate them for you. You'll have to look around- try joining reptileforums.co.uk, its the best place to meet people with real experience and in various places around the country.

Eggs need placing in a damp substrate such as vermiculite, compost or moss, and then incubating for around 9 weeks. You mustn't turn them once they've been put in their incubation tub. Do not place on a heat mat- too hot, wrong kind of heat, it will cook them. Keep moist by regular spraying with water, making sure it is not freezing cold from the tap. They may develop and hatch ok at room temperature as long as your house isn't too cold. If you have a nice warm room such as the airing cupboard- try putting them there for now. But if temperatures are a bit low then they may take longer to hatch.

  11. you should take the eggs to the pet store

  12. DO YOU HAVE 2 SNAKES SO THE EGGS ARE FERTILIZED ? REMEMBER IN NATURE A SNAKE HAS NO EQUIPMENT -----JUST THE WARMTH OF THE SUN TO HATCH THEM -----HAPPY SNAKE FARMING -----SOUNDS GREAT .

  13. Females can lay eggs even if they haven't been put with a male and if this is the case, they will be infertile anyway.

If she has been with a male, its a bit silly you not being prepared...

Either way, chuck all the eggs into the freezer asap to make sure they will never grow and hatch - leave them over night and then throw them away the next day.

    No worries.

  14. Hope that you don't wake up one morning and have 18 snakes! Scary!
